yesterday watched some short-length films by Jan Svankmajer; it's simply stunning. That's what the cinema could be/should be... It's a pity, but actually it isn't.

As I remember, he's the sole cinematogrphist I saw in Tate. He's really a genius of dynamics, but he's mad - with all these gruesome rotten puppets & absolute symbolism...
